I care for 7 dogs in our rescue I help feed low income families pets when I can and colonies of cats and if this comes thru for us I can also help with the lost and abandoned dogs in the everglades here in my hometown. I would be also able to help other small rescues as myself to share so they don't have to struggle to feed their rescued dogs.

We rescue 450 plus animals a year from high kill shelters in Georgia. Our expenses to provide medical care and spays and neutered take up much of our adoption fees. We not only supply meals to the animals in our care, but to low income families in our community. As well as helping other rescue too! We believe as long as our hands are open to give, they will also be open to receive! Helping us will in turn always help someone else in need too.
In the past 12 months, we have rescued and medically treated 2 parvo puppies and one emaciated pup with a foreign body in her belly, stunted growth due to neglect, and periodic seizures. The significant outlay in financial resources virtually eliminated our cash reserves, so now we are heavily reliant on food donations for our animals.
I would provide many of the surrounding apartment complexes and neighborhood care-takers having low income status with food for the homeless and abandoned colonies of fur-babies they care for on a daily basis. I now provide food for a few foster neighborhood cat caretakers and their low income neighbors (in the Columbus area) but would be ecstatic

Winning 5,000 meals would hugely impact our rescue efforts. As it is, we are limited on how many we can save as the majority of food, supplies and vet money is out of my paycheck. It would be wonderful to not have to worry about that aspect for awhile and just love what we do and the animals we care for. Getting 5,000 meals might not be a big deal

As a small dog only, non-profit, rescue in Salem, OR, we are often overlooked by the large benefactors and grants afforded the larger organizations. We aren't a big "Humane Society" or Dog Shelter. We could use the 5000 meals so we can use our money towards the serious vet bills. We spend a lot on the dogs care and the 5000 meals would feed our dogs for almost 3 months! All the money we save could pay for about 15 spays or neuters or an orthopedic surgery. Good quality food makes all the difference in our rescue dogs lives, health and appeara

St. Louis Pet Rescue deserves to be the recipient of the 5,000 meals for many reasons, but I will focus on three: monetary need, dedication/-passion of our volunteers, and recognition of the humanitarian role of our animals in society.
