I do it because these dogs need me and I probably need them too. I have been rescuing since 1993. It is something that I do on my own without the aid of a breed club.

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Westies in need. We provide extensive medical care to all our incoming Westies and require spay/neuter on all adoptions.

There are many words used to describe terriers: feisty, courageous, spirited, lively, curious, energetic, hearty and spunky are just a few. Terriers are also often described as being “big dogs in small bodies”. Terriers falling into the Earthdog category are primarily JRTs, Cairns, Westies and Borders. Although our primary focus will be on terriers, we will also help any other breed as we are able. It is our mission to place all of our dogs in the home that is best suited to provide them with their needs for the rest of their lives. We are a registered, incorporated rescue operating out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We are completely reliant upon volunteers and foster homes. If you would like to contact us, you may either private message us through the facebook page or you may email us

Westie Rescue is committed to assisting every West Highland White Terrier (Westie) in need of a new home and is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Each Westie that comes into rescue is very special with a unique background and set of needs. Westies are placed into rescue for a variety of reasons including owner surrendered and those found in shelters. Some of these dogs have come out of traumatic situations. For all of them, it is stressful to lose the home they have known. This does not mean that they will not make wonderful pets. However, just as you may have certain desires about the dog you want to adopt, so each Westie also has special needs, which a rescuer will try to determine through an initial health, background and temperament evaluation.
