Heart to Heart was born in October, 2010 by a group of veteran rescuers. We were all members of breed-specific rescue organizations but wanted to save any dog that was in danger. We knew each other and had worked together either through rescue networking or as members of the same rescue organizations. Our experiences had taught us that in order to save dogs, we must put the volunteers first because without them, we’d have no rescue. Dogs can’t save themselves. A common denominator among the various organizations we belonged to was there wasn’t any “heart”; it was all about numbers. We nurture and appreciate our members and in return, they nurture our rescued dogs. Our dogs benefit by having experienced foster parents rather than a revolving door of newbies. Why do we rescue? Because they’re there.
