I currently manage an equine vet clinic and prior to that I managed a small animal vet clinic. I got started with a TNR program in 1998 shortly after our neighboring military base shut down. I had my own rescue working primarily with ferals, semi-ferals and tamed babies from that point until I took a break in 2007. We found homes for 75-100 cats/kittens during that time. I continued to foster a few here and there for other groups, including dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs. I joined forces with another rescue-Reesie’s Project Outreach in September 2010 and continued with them as their secretary, treasurer and adoption coordinator until January 1st of this year. Their criteria changed and was focused more on temporary housing of domestic violence and red cross animals. I love what they stand for and appreciate what they do. Since I have such a large network base of friends, adopters and other rescues, I knew I needed to stay in the mix. There aren’t many rescue groups in the Warrenton area and there is always a need to place cats and kittens. I’m currently courses in Humane Education and I work with a preschool on a regular basis to provide the young children with information about pets and all living things. I wanted to develop a group where I could continue to help the rescue kitties, but educate the kids as well. I believe that ‘compassion for all living things begins with education’ and that is sort of my tag line with my group. I hope to have future summer camps for kids and host birthday parties as well-all with the humane theme.
