I’m just a small project, and currently work primarily out of my neighborhood and surrounding areas.I take in abandoned dogs off the street, and remove dogs from abusive homes. The homeless animal population is simply out of control here, and people abuse dogs with disturbing frequency…with little, if anything, done by local enforcement agencies to prevent or punish this behavior. The local animal control is extremely high-kill, at peak averaging 400 deaths per week. I never understand how anyone can witness these atrocities and not do something to help. So…I do the best I can with the resources I have, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to have made a difference in the lives of some of these little ones. To be honest, though, most of the time it feels like we’re just sticking our fingers in a hole in the dam. I wish the laws were in place here to protect these helpless members of our society…and that the people who are in a position to do so would actually enforce what little provisions there are. In the meantime, we’ll keep working hard to help all we can.
