Our organization was founded in 2006 by a group of concerned citizens. Pendleton County does not have a shelter. All animals picked up by the sheriff’s department is taken to Grant County Pound and will be euthanized in five days. Our main priorities are to reduce the number of unwanted animals by spay/neuter, TNR, and rescue. Our rescue program has helped almost 500 dogs and cats in the county since PAWS was established. Most go to out of state rescues where the adoption rate is much higher. PAWS feels that the animals of Pendleton County need a voice and help to ensure good homes and reduced numbers.
