Pocono Greyhound Adoption is an all volunteer group. Our mission is to provide education to the public about retired racing greyhounds and their desirability as pets. We also raise funds in order to care for and place retired greyhounds in a permanent home. When adopting a hound through PGA you can be assured of our continued support for the dog and their new family.

To anyone considering adopting a Greyhound in the Lehigh Valley and/or Northwestern New Jersey, I would ask that you be very, very cautious about adopting from PGA.
We adopted a Greyhound (our fourth) at Christmas time 2016 from PGA. We believe that PGA knowingly misrepresented the Greyhound in question in order to expedite her adoption. We were told she was Hook Worm free…she was badly infected and required vet care and medication to be returned to health. We were told she was cat friendly…she was/is not and our home is now gated to assure the safety of our cat. We were told she was sociable…she suffers from extreme anxiety again requiring medication. Around people she is unfamiliar with she will urinate and defecate until calmed down.
Let me be clear…we will continue to care for and love this Greyhound because she deserves it. However several thousands of dollars have needed to be spent in order to bring her to a point of modestly joyful living…before accepting a Grey from PGA have the dog carefully examined by your own vet…it will save you much anguish and money.
