URGAS took over the operation of the Conour Animal Shelter to improve the environment and lives of the dogs. The shelter facility is small and has the capacity to house 30 dogs. There are times when the shelter houses more dogs, but partners with other shelters to transport dogs to find homes. There is always a need for volunteers. It is so rewarding to spend time walking or just sitting with the dogs. People are an important part to providing physical and mental stimulation for maintaining their behavioral health. It relieves boredom and stress and makes a major difference in a shelter dog?s daily life.
