- Abbeywood is always staffed with the on-premises owner, as well as after-hours staff who are available from 7 pm to 10 pm to let each dog out in the large exercise area, give nighttime medications if necessary and check each dog’s inside bedding.

However, this is a large park and most of the sports events take place in the southern half. We have never been kicked out. People even offer dog training classes here. There are also drinking fountains. My old dogs like to romp on the turf grass. Location: East Washington St, east of Sonoma Mt. Parkway, just past the Petaluma airport (on your right). Directions: From HWY 101 north take the E. Washington–Central Petaluma exit. Turn right onto E. Washington drive approx. 1 mile. Take the first left turn after the airport. There will be baseball diamonds and recreational buildings at the south end of the park. Follow the drive to the north end, where there is plenty of parking and shade.

At Green Dog Rescue Project (GDRP), we aim to rebuild hope for homeless dogs where it?s been damaged or lost. To do this, we provide rescue, care and housing for dogs of all sizes and ages in a non-kennel facility, as well as medical and behavioral rehabilitation when needed. We also work with those who see a need to change an antiquated sheltering industry by providing the environment and methods to learn how to make real change. We believe that the traditiol sheltering model of housing animals in cages or glass closets does not truly benefit the needs of homeless animals, and that we have a responsibility to understand dogs’ basic and tural need to be part of a social pack. We can offer education and training to sheltering industry professiols and volunteers that has proven to increase adoptions, staff morale, and healthier animals, while decreasing the number of animals being euthanized. Our focus also lies on community education, including the next generation of junior volunteers. At Green Dog Rescue Project, we firmly believe that an ocean of change can begin with a single drop.
