CWHWTC Rescue was formed to rehome displaced Westies. We do not have a shelter our rescued Westies are housed in private foster homes.

The sanctuary was set up out of the need in Mississauga for a non-profit organization to fund the veterinary & rehabilitation expenses for injured wild animals and birds. The main goal of the organization funded by donations to the project is to provide refuge, veterinary care and rehabilitation to the wild life that have been displaced from their normal habitat. Due to the explosive expansion of residential, commercial and industrial development, the few remaining pockets of virgin growth and wetlands are becoming isolated from each other and consequently unable to sustain the wild life population.

Adoption has become the preferred way to find that special member of your family because the advantages make it a win-win situation for all concerned. Volunteers located in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal have been scouring the net and burning up the telephone lines amassing information on every facility, coast to coast, wherever adoptable animals can be found.

ARK II seeks to promote and protect the rights of all animals and foster their individual liberties through direct action, political action and public awareness campaigns. We will strive to build a world where animal liberation and human liberation become one in a fabric of mutual respect, tolerance and compassion.

The Alliston & District Humane Society covers the townships of New Tecumseth, Mulmur, and Adjala-Tosorontio as well as the Villages of Cookstown, Rosemont and Hockley and the Town of Schomberg. The ADHS is an affiliate of the Ontario Society for The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA). An affiliate has its own board of directors and is responsible for its own finances and policies. The ADHS adheres to all OSPCA bylaws as they pertain to an affiliated society. Our Animal Protections Services agents are trained and governed by OSPCA. Any monies raised in our area stay in our area. The ADHS attempts to provide shelter for stray and unwanted animals with priority given to abused and neglected animals. The animals in our care are housed in a network of volunteer foster homes, assisted by our Foster Home Co-ordinator. The ADHS provides a lost and found reporting service, humane education, and animal protection and cruelty investigation services. Dedicated volunteers make all of these services possible.

GRA Canada is operated by Freddie and Bill Cowan from their rural kennel facilities near London in Southwestern Ontario. Here is their story: Our first closeup encounter with Greyhounds was a Home Show at Daytona Beach in March, 1992. We went to the track the next day and volunteered to foster a shy, brindle female called ‘Nuffy’ aka Getum Fasta Nuff. Like many first time foster folks we failed the course, and returned to the track the next day, and filled out the adoption papers. Nuffy became our ‘guiding light’. When we moved back to Ontario in the fall of 1992 we decided that we needed to find a companion to Nuffy.’
