Coastal Islands – unofficial off leash dog beach. Cedar Key, FL. This is not an officially sanctioned dog beach nor is it fenced, but there are no vehicles and very few people. Accessible by boat only. Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge is a group of coastal islands just off the town of Cedar Key. Refuge consists of 13 islands ranging in size from 1 to 120 acres. You must bring your own poop pick up bags and be prepared to bring back to shore for disposal in trash.

We are not fenced and the island speed limit is 25 MPH, so make sure you know your pet and how they listen to your commands. Shell Mound is a prehistoric Indian mound and nature trail off Highway 347 on CR 326 outside Cedar Key.
