This department is engaged in the enforcement of state laws and regulations, county ordinance relating to animals. Activities include dog licensing, operating the county dog pound, maintaining dog license and rabies vaccination records, impounding stray dogs and large animals, investigating dog bites and quarantining biting dogs, investigating loose or nuisance large animal complaints. Other areas of responsibility include licensing kennels, enforcing other state laws and regulations concerning animal care and keep, violations of humane laws, picking up small dead animals for disposal, picking up injured domestic animals.
