The dog park, which opened in June of 2006 is located in the fenced northeast corner of the park. The 1.83 acre, granite surface with small, rolling hills and dog-friendly shrubbery is enclosed by six-foot-high perimeter fencing and two double-gated ADA accessible entrances. The area offers both large and small dog sections, both of which provide ‘Mutt-Mitt’ dispensers and trash receptacles. The small dog section is intended for those under 20 pounds. Pet owners can enjoy shade trees and picnic table seating, although food is not allowed in the off-leash area. The Dog Park is open during Park Operation Hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Parking can be accessed off of 7th Street just north of the VA Hospital. Closure notices will be posted in advance due to large scale events throughout the year. Community members are continuing to raise funds for additional dog park amenities such as shade structures, benches, water resources within the off-leash area, and lighting. We take safety very serious here at Heidi’s Historic Home & Pet Care. I only allow Five dogs (maximum) at a time into my home, excluding my own. This means extra time for each pet that visits. And, because we are a Cage-Free Environment, we can only allow “The Cream of The Crop” into our family. This means that while we would love to allow All loving dogs into our home, we can only provide our Doggie Day Care & Dog Boarding services to those who not only pass the below requirements, but also must be of a docile, friendly, & loving temperament to All size dogs, as well as humans.
* We are only accepting larger breeds that are extremely docile & well trained around smaller dogs (And, Larger) as our little ones can’t protect themselves as well! If you feel your larger breed dog is in any way overwhelming to other dogs or aggressive in any way, we will not be able to accept your dog into our care.

DOGS 15 (Fifteen) pounds & Over: Must be between the age of Five (5) Years or Older In some cases we will make exceptions to this rule, depending on many things. Please inquire if you have a special circumstance.
All dogs must be free of tics and flees and current on all vaccinations, including Bordetella; completely potty trained, aggressive free, and well trained (no marking territory inside, no excessive barking, no chewing on furniture, toys, doggie beds). We do not accept dogs that have any type of behavioral problems. Please read Boarding/Doggie Day Care Policies & Procedures page for all details on Temperament Screening; Cancellation Requirements, etc.
