Very Nice Off-Leash Dog Park. This is an excellent park. The park is a large fenced-in area with a 2-gate entry system to control runaways and ‘Hairy Houdinies.’ The land is owned by the City of Akron, but is operated by BARC (Better Akron Recreation for Canines). BARC’s website is http://akrondogpark.org/. The website is very informative, and I suggest that you check it out before visiting the park (especially the section on rules.) I use this park often, and I meet some of the nicest people. My only complaint is that not everyone follows the rule of cleaning up after their own dog. I know I do. Please come and visit, but make sure that you and your pooch only leave footprints/paw prints and nothing ‘else’.Location: 499 Memorial Parkway. Directions: From Akron take Tallmadge Road west. Tallmadge becomes Memorial Parkway.

This makes Schellin Park an ideal picnic site, or summer softball field of dreams. Schellin Park is also the home of the Wooster Skate Park. London’s newest off-leash park is located within Greenway Park. The off-leash area can be accessed from Greenside Avenue off of Springbank Drive. Greenside Avenue makes a bend to the left, towards the Greenway Pollution Control Plant (PCP). Make a right before the PCP, carefully follow the driveway along the river, and the off-leash area will be on your left just after the PCP. This off-leash area is completely fenced and offers an open area and trails through a naturalized area. There is also an area for small dogs, with a separate entrance and parking lot. Site amenities include parking, double-gated entrances, garbage containers, benches, rule sign, bulleting board, and a portable toilet. Other activities in Greenway Park include soccer fields, a Saturn Playground, a picnic area with a viewing platform onto the Thames River, and a butterfly garden.

This off-leash area has a completely fenced section and an open section delineated by boundary signs. Both sections offer trails through naturalized areas. There is also a separate area for small dogs. Site amenities include parking, double-gated entrances, garbage container, picnic tables and benches, rule sign, bulletin board, and portable toilet.
