Keeywadin Island ia a sanctuary for wildlife and recreation. The 8-mile long barrier island is one of southwest Florida’s largest unabridged barrier islands. Southern Living named Keewaydin Island one of the Top Ten Secret Beaches of the South in the April 2010 issue. Please note: Dogs are allowed on the beach, but they MUST be leashed. There are no facilities on the island and a boat is needed to get on and off the island. There are several boat rental companies that would allow dogs in the Naples area. If staying at the Naples Bay Resort & Marina, the hotel does offer boat rentals straight from their property’s marina. Pure Naples at Tin City also allows dogs on their rentals (not on sightseeing cruises). If you are coming from Marco Island, there are rental boats available from Rose Marina. Many peopl who stay at the Boat House Motel will rent a boat for several days and tie up their rental at the Boat House Motel’s free boat slip.
