Point Isabel Dog Owners and friends (PIDO)
Dog ParksPoint Isabel Dog Owners organized the off leash dog park on 23 acres along the San Francisco Bay over twenty years ago. The park is managed and maintained by East Bay Regional Park District with the assistance of PIDO. There are restrooms, water stations with hose for rinsing the swimming dogs, a doggie wash building, many waste baskets and a snack bar. The third sunday of each month, PIDO holds a ‘Clean UP’ day distributing litter bags to encourage visitors to pick up after their dog. Bulletin boards in two areas post PIDO notices, postings for lost and found dogs, dogs needing owners and housing for dog owners along with the park rules. PIDO produces a quartly newsletter and pays for the plastic bags that are provided for pooper pick up. Over one million visitors enjoy the spectacular views while their canine friends release their energy swimming and socializing off leash. Dogs must be in voice control at all times and aggressive behavior is not tolerated. A telephone is permanently located in the western end of the parking lot to notify park police if needed.
