Dr. Villar was born in Spain but considers himself a Virginia native, having lived most of his life in Charlottesville. Early on he developed a keen interest in animals, having been in their constant company as a child. His family owned a small farm that at one time or another raised pet horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks and let’s not forget his prize winning donkey, Mikey.Dr. Villar pursued his Bachelor’s at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Urbanz attended Auburn University where she received a degree in both Zoology and Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a fellowship at the Scott-Ritchey Research Center in veterinary medical studies. Dr. Urbanz completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at University of Minnesota. Dr. Urbanz joined the residency program at Eye Care for Animals in 1999 and became a board certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2002.

Pets are allowed for a one-time $125 fee. They allow up to 2 pets, and cats are also allowed. Pets must be 25 lbs or less.
Canine Boarding:
Dogs staying with us have the benefit of having both indoor and outdoor access. At night or in extreme heat or cold weather, they have bedrooms in our climate controlled dorms. During the day each of our canine guests have a private outdoor patios/runs where they get to see what’s going on around them and enjoy the day, weather permitting, and most importantly get fresh air and stimulation!
Our standard boarding rates include food that we are happy to provide. We use Nature’s Domain Grain Free Salmon Formula. We top it with a “gravy” made of Canned food mixed with warm water.
Should you decide to bring your pet’s food from home, we ask that you bag each serving individually with the portioned amounts enclosed. For example, if your pet is staying with us for 3 days and your pet eats one cup once a day, you would need to bring 3 Ziploc bags, each with one cup of food ready to dispense. If your pet is staying 3 days and eats twice a day, you would bring 6 bags with the exact amount of dry food ready for feeding. We do have a refrigerator if your pets diet requires it.
For the pampered pooch, we also have our luxury suites! Each of our suites is has a unique theme and décor to match!
Our staff interacts with the dogs throughout the day by talking, petting, feeding, and cleaning them. Optional play sessions, brushing, or cuddle sessions are available to provide your pet with even more attention.
A daily record is kept of each dog’s habits during their stay and our qualified staff is on the alert for potential concerns. Each pet is checked daily for cleanliness, health and emotional well-being.
While your dog(s) stay with us, you may choose to add on additional services for their comfort. We provide a wide array of options for dogs from puppy-hood into their senior years. Please check out our rates and reservation page to view what we have to offer!
We offer a special care ward for our senior, convalescing or nervous pets. Please note that additional fees may be required for special handling. If you have a dog that may fall into this category, please call us to discuss your concerns prior to your scheduled stay.
Feline Boarding:
Cats staying with us have the benefit of like-home living quarters. Our cattery is located in our main building and situated such that our kitty visitors won’t see or hear the canine guests at the hotel. Our cattery is climate controlled to ensure that the cats in our care are in the most comfortable environment possible. Our exhaust and ventilation system provides for twelve, 100% fresh air changes per hour.
We offer kitty rooms, multi-level and expandable condos to allow for more space or to allow felines from the same family to live together, as well as spacious window suites. All of our accommodations feature soft beds and kitty toys! Our guests are fed twice daily and are looked after by our meticulous caretakers who closely monitor and fuss over each kitty.
While your cat(s) stay with us, you may choose to add on additional services for their comfort. We provide a wide array of options for the cats from interactive playtimes to grooming sessions. Please check out our rates and reservation page to view what we have to offer.
I provide in-home dog obedience training and behavior modification for all ages and breeds of dogs. All training is done using dog-friendly methods and is customized to meet your dog’s needs. I use a holistic approach to training, which includes physical exercise, mental stimulation, and diet. All family members, including kids, may be included in the training process. Sessions are held in your home at a time that is convenient for your schedule. ABTA honors certification. Wonder Dog Training offers in-home pet sitting (overnight stays and daytime visits), dog walking, and overnight boarding in a cozy, friendly home. All boarders, walkers, and sitters are fully insured and bonded. They also have been certified in Pet First Aid.
Dogtopia of San Marcos is the premier dog daycare and boarding facility of North San Diego County. We are all inclusive and do not charge for feeding, bedding, or administering any medication your dog needs.
