Rusty Horse Dog Boarding
Boarding / KennelsDogs Love Romping, Playing, and Relaxing
Rusty Horse Dog Boarding is a kennel-free facility in Enumclaw, WA, with a home-style atmosphere where your dog is well cared for. We accept only a handful of dogs at a time in order to give each dog individualized attention; they are not just “another” dog but are a family member.
Dogs love to romp around and play with each other in the large, secure play yard. This provides important socialization and enables them to burn off excess energy. We provide leash walks, weather permitting. During the quiet times, day and evenings, each dog has their own spacious bed inside warm quarters.
Doggy Daycare/Socialization
Doggy daycare is perfect for dogs that would otherwise be cooped up at home for long periods. At Rusty Horse Dog Boarding they can burn off excess energy with their pals while they learn to interact with others and just have fun. Dogs are naturally social and need interaction with dogs and people to become a well-rounded partner with their families. While you are at work, out shopping, or just want to get away, you can be sure your dog will be enjoying themselves in a safe monitored environment instead of causing mischief or laying around waiting for you to return.
Doggy daycare is a great way to socialize your puppy. Puppy socialization is a key foundation to a well-rounded dog that makes their life easier and happier, as well as yours. Your puppy will learn the important dynamics of being among other dogs.
• Builds confidence and character.
• Helps a puppy develop into a well-rounded dog.
• May bring a subdued puppy out of his or her shell.
• Builds a foundation for their acceptance by and of other dogs.
• Increases their confidence when you are out walking or at a dog park.
Dogs with Special Needs Are Welcome
We are happy to provide for your dog’s special needs including giving medication, helping them recover from surgery and providing extra TLC for the senior dogs. We have a warm, homey area separate from the other dogs for those who need extra time and attention. Senior dogs may not be able to mix with the others so their outdoor playtime can be modified to suit their abilities.
A Typical Day
A typical day at Rusty Horse Dog Boarding begins around 7:00 am – this is their first “out” of the day. Breakfast is around 8am followed by a short naptime to settle their tummies. Next out, around 10am. During the day, dogs may be outside enjoying the sunshine for a couple of hours or go for a walk down our private road. Around 5pm, dinner is served. The last out of the day is around 9 / 9:30 pm. There is a minimum of 4 outs throughout the day. The timing of outs varies with the time of year and weather. We like to see them outside for long periods when the weather is nice. It makes for a happier dog when they play, romp around together, and enjoy the fresh air.
What to Bring for Dog Boarding or Doggy Daycare
• Your dog’s own food, as we don’t want to upset their stomach.
• Copy of shot records which should include: DHPP and Lepto, rabies and bordetella (kennel cough).
• Their own toys, bedding (optional), treats, anything that might make them feel more comfortable.
Vaccinations
For the safety of all dogs, up-to-date vaccinations are required for: DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Parovirus), rabies and bordetella (kennel cough).
Flea Treatment
We strongly recommend that you have your dog on a flea treatment at least 7 days prior to boarding.
Clean Fecal Report
There are a variety of worms your dog can pick up from various places such as dog parks, trails, boarding facilities, etc. As some can be passed from one dog to the next, we try hard to keep our dog boarding facility clean of these parasites. Giardia is one of the parasites that is infectious to both humans and pets. It is our policy to be sure you get a clean fecal report from your vet at least once a year.
Grooming – Optional
If you are interested in having your dog groomed while at Rusty Horse Dog Boarding we are happy to schedule an appointment at a local, licensed and trusted groomer. Please let us know when scheduling your boarding or doggy day care so as we can make the proper arrangements. Fees: groomer’s fees plus mileage.
