Seaview Memorial Park
Dog ParksSeaview Memorial Park is a completely fenced-in, dog-friendly park. The majority of the park is off-leash and, because it’s completely fenced in, a great place to take Fido to play fetch on a sunny afternoon. It is something of a ‘dog haven’ and is almost always full of friendly canines and their doting owners (although I recomment a post-dinner visit, as the park seems to be at it’s prime around 6pm). There is a section at the beginning of the park that is on-leash only, and there are rarely dogs spending time in that area, so it is friendly to non-dog owners as well! The rules are quite simple: you must have a leash with you, you must clean up after your pet, and your pet must come when called. Patrons are very good about following these rules; the park is generally very clean and safe. The park is not designed to be a ‘dog park’ but is locally-labelled as so, and has gained notoriety as a dog park. The park sits beneath the MacKay Bridge and lines the Halifax Harbor, so the scenery is beautiful (albeit a little chilly when the wind is up) for a stroll around the gravel walking path. There are also picnic tables setup (in both the on-leash and off-leash areas) for you to enjoy a picnic, or some leisurely reading!
