Description: a wooded park with a fenced area, one side is a concrete wall as the park is just south of I-40. Albuquerque, New Mexico, Location: 2000 Dakota St NE. Directions: From I-25, take I-40 east to San Mateo Blvd. Turn left onto Haines (2nd left turn-east, although the 1st left turn will get you there, too) and follow it to Dakota, which is east of San Pedro Dr. Haines actually becomes Zimmerman and the entrance is at the end of Dakota, at Zimmerman. The name is accurate, it is like a small urban forest. The fenced, off-leash area is double gated and there aren’t as many trees inside the fence. Bring your own water after October, they remove the valve at that time as the pipes freeze and you can’t get water there during the winter months. I forgot to bring my camera or I’d include pictures. Dogs do tend to get ‘goatheads’ (stickers) in their paws there, so if your dog starts limping, that’s why.
