Dr. Sara Chapman graduated from Ohio State University in 1985. After a few years in conventional practice, she noticed that pets with chronic problems often didn’t get any better, and was discouraged with the side effects of many of the conventional treatments. So she began to tailor her treatment to the individual patient, using nutrition, reduced vaccination and fewer big drugs whenever possible. In 1995, she became interested in homeopathy after her own chronically lame horse responded dramatically to it. She has studied veterinary homeopathy, veterinary acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine both in England and the United States. Dr. Chapman is a member of the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy, the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the National Center for Homeopathy. She is also a member of the British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK), the Faculty of Homeopathy (UK), the International Association for Veterinary Homeopathy, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.

Dr. Susan Maturo has been practicing veterinary medicine for more than two decades. Upon graduating from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, she worked as an associate veterinarian in her home state of Connecticut. She then worked in several small animal practices in MD before establishing the Animal Medical Center of Watkins Park in 1992. Treating dogs, cats, ferrets and small pocket pets, Dr. Maturo has particular interests in preventative medicine, nutrition, geriatric (senior) patients, dentistry, and, soft tissue surgery. She believes in treating the whole patient and follows a rational approach to vaccination to promote optimal pet health. Dr. Maturo is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Dental Society.

The Executive Inn and Suites does accept three pets per room. They have a nightly fee of $5.00 per pet. They allow pets under 50lbs.

Wholistic Hound delivers family dog training and behavior solutions that are both dog and people friendly. Their clients achieve excellent results in a short time by learning to communicate with their canine companions and integrate effective dog training techniques into their daily lives. Owner and Instructor Sandy Modell is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and has been training dogs for many years. Her philosophy and methods approach training as more than just dog “obedience.” Humane and effective dog training is based on the science of learning behaviors of classical and operant conditioning. The methods and techniques that are used teach your dog to think as they learn new and good behaviors. At the same time, you build a stronger relationship with them. Sessions are positive, motivating, and fun. Private in-home lessons, group classes, and specialized consultations are offered for puppies and dogs of all ages. Group classes are sponsored through the City of Alexandria Department of Parks and Recreation.
