Huntington Beach, CA, with a population of 200,000 is located 37 miles south of Los Angeles and 89 miles north of San Diego. Dog Beach is located on Pacific Coast Highway between 21st St. and Seapoint St. in the beautiful city of Huntington Beach (about 10 miles from Disneyland in Anaheim). One mile of golden sands and the exciting Pacific Ocean have made Dog Beach a paradise for dogs where they can frolic in the water and taste a sense of freedom–rarely found elsewhere.

The Parks Department maintains a public restroom in the northeast corner of the park. Because of vandalism, a key is required for use. You may obtain a key by writing to our mailing address in the bottom left corner of the home page and enclosing a $5 deposit. (You return the key and you get your $5 back.) The entire park, which is about 1 3/4 acres, is enclosed with a 5-foot, chain-link fence.There are four sets of double gates — a separate entrance and exit from the main park at the east end, the entrance to the small-dog park (see below) and set of gates at the far west end. A third watering station has been installed, complete with gravel for better drainage. We now have one at each end of the main enclosure and one in the little-dog park. Water is also available for two-legged visitors too. A small section of the park has been enclosed at the east end of the park specifically for small dogs. It has its own gates directly to the parking lot. We also have another small enclosure at the west end of the park for emergencies and to help some owners corral those dogs that just aren’t quite ready to go home. Six large lights, at left, have been installed atop the big poles on the north fence. A better-lighted park will improve safety — and make the poop easier to find at night! In an effort to save on city resources, the temporary fence that went up so that city crews could work behind will come down when the fencing is needed at another site. We share a parking lot with the city workers who work at the oil pumping station next door. Two spaces nearest the Dog Park gates have been reserved for handicapped visitors. Along the fences around the park, you’ll find a dozen bag boxes and a few pooper-scoopers. Please help us keep our park clean by not only picking up after your own pet, but doing a little ‘charity work’ while you’re at it. We always can use extra bags; please bring your extra bags from home to keep our boxes stuffed. Just inside the east gate is our Bark Board, a bulletin board of association news and other information. On the south fence is a public bulletin board for anyone who uses the park. One no-no: The city does not permit money-making notices in a public park. About 20 benches and several tables have been placed throughout the park. We’ve found that the dogs love to dig under them, so we’ve found it useful to move them a few feet one way or the other every so often.

The Laguna Niguel Pooch Park is a fully fenced, off leash dog park. The one-acre park includes three picnic tables with shade shelters and a restroom facility for the comfort of dog owners. Parking is located on the opposite side of the Fire Station from the park. The park may be accessed from the trail that runs behind the Fire Station, or from the sidewalk area along Golden Lantern. Please do not park in the Fire Station parking lot. Dogs must be kept on-leash until inside the park. Please remember to pick up after your dog, both inside and outside of the park.

Daily 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Permit required; daily permit $5. Daily and annual permits are available at City Hall; the Sierra Madre Police Department, 242 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.; or the Sierra Madre Community Recreation Center, 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. Fenced, lighted, double-gated entry, trees, benches, disposal bags, trash cans, parking, phones, restrooms, water, separate fenced areas for large/active dogs and ﾓspecial needsﾔ dogs. Access for the disabled.

Dog Park is located alongside the Arroyo Seco and Pasadena Freeway, between Ave. 60/Monterey Road and Via Marisol. There is a large dog area and small dog area with seating, poop bag dispensers, water fountains and shade trees. The Redondo Beach Dog Park is part of Dominguez Park and is on land leased from the Edison Company. ‘Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park, Inc.’ is a not for profit California corporation comprised of a board of directors with elected officers, all volunteers. The purpose of the ‘Friends’ is to raise funds and oversee the day-to-day management of the park. Since the Redondo Beach City Council approved the creation of a dog park in 1992, park patrons have donated over $70,000. These funds went to cleaning up the site (formerly a trash area), adding top soil, grass, sprinklers, fences, benches, water, etc. Our ongoing goal is to expand usage of the dog park to become a place to offer services and to bring people together. Since 1992, literally thousands of dogs (and owners) have enjoyed the park. At various times there are workshops, special events, dog training classes (starting early Spring), low-cost vaccination clinics, and the Pooch-a-rama Adoption Fair on the second Sunday of every month. Almost 250 dogs found homes last year as a result of these adoption fairs. Come join us in enjoying the park and become involved in it’s activities!
