LaMancha is a 501c3 (nonprofit) no-kill animal shelter, located on a 45 acre farm in Chester County, Pennsylvania. LaMancha was begun in 2001, initially as a rescue for racehorses that were destined for the slaughter house. In 2003, LaMancha Animal Rescue expanded to include neglected and abused animals such as puppies, dogs, kittens, cats, emus, peacocks, swans, varieties of chickens and roosters, geese, sheep, goats, pigs, and of course, horses. LaMancha Animal Rescue carries a rescue kennel license by the State of Pennsylvania, is a member of Cesar Milanâs Shelter All Stars, and is a federally recognized Karelian Bear Dog rescue. LaManchaâs name was borrowed from the theme of the play, Man of LaMancha, and the Story of the Starfish, both of which emphasize working to rescue those in need, despite the enormous odds. We may not be able to rescue all, but we can make a difference in the lives of those that we do. The mission of LaMancha Animal Rescue is to begin an animalâs healing process through providing food, shelter, rehabilitation, medication, socialization and training, which helps to prepare our animals for permanent adoption.
