Shaded open air shelter. Dog Owners Must have a Permit to Enter Permit Fees ﾕ 2012 annual dog park permit fees are $20.00. 2012 dog park permits will be valid January 1, 2012 – December 31, 2012. Requirements to Purchase a Permit ﾕCurrent dog license from the City of Des Moines or their home jurisdiction ﾕCurrent dog rabies vaccination certification ﾕDog must be no less than four months old ﾕPermits and tags pertain to specific dogs, not the dog park and therefore cannot be transferred to other dogs or dog owners.

Please check information on the City’s webpage. Users are asked to purchase a membership to the park. The park is large (6 acres) and entirely fenced. Location: 2500 Grand Avenue. Directions: Entrance to Racoon River Park is on the south side of Grand Avenue. Once in the park, turn left, head past the lake toward the softball diamonds. Turn right at the Softball Complex/Beach corner and follow curve in road to the south end of the softball complex. The dog park is behind (south) of the softball diamonds.

Originally Cedar Rapids’ 18 acre fenced playground for dogs Cheyenne Off-Leash Area underwent changes with the flood of 2008. The park featured a 1.5 acre training yard, a one acre small dog yard, and a trail and shelters in the main yard. Since the flood the 1.5 acre training has reopened as the park’s main yard. Location: Follow Foster Rd. all the way down. There are signs posted leading to the dog park. Directions: Take the Dubuque St. Exit to Iowa City; take a right at the first set of stop lights and follow the road all the way down.
