Location: Grand Army Plaza and Flatbush. There are many places to enter Prospect Park, please keep your dog on a leash until you are in a designated off leash area and only do so at designated times. Dogs may be off-leash in the 15-acre Nethermead Mon.-Fri. 5 p.m-9 a.m. year-round (closed holidays). On holidays and weekends, the hours above apply to Nethermead as well. At all other times, dogs must be on a leash, minimum fine for non-compliance $100. Trees, restrooms (at Long Meadow only; may not be available early in the morning), water (some fountains equipped with troughs for dogs). No separate area for small dogs. Off Leash activity for dogs in 90 acres in the Long meadow, before 9 am, after 5 pm summer hours, after 9 pm winter hours. The weekend mornings in the Long Meadow may see several hundred dogs. The first Saturday of every month there is a Coffee Bark from 7 am to 9 am. Free doggie cookies, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pastries, danish, muffins, donuts and sometimes hard boiled eggs, Very rarely scrambled eggs with cheese. Most but not all dogs keep there paws off the table. At about one and a half miles and 90 acres The Longmeadow in Prospect Park is perhaps the largest open space off leash area in the United States. It is unfenced . Boundaries of trees, hills, a road closed to all but parks dept. traffic before nine am and a stone wall (with many exits) surrounds the park. and numerous dogs and attentive owners and handlers in a lovely meadow keep dogs entertained and intellectually stimulated, and socially engaged.
