The Gunnison Valley Animal Welfare League ? a 501(c)(3) corporation and a State-licensed animal-rescue organization ? serves all of Gunnison County, Colorado, including Almont, Pitkin, and the unincorporated areas. Formerly Gunnison Animal Lovers, GVAWL is run entirely by volunteers devoted to animal welfare and animal care. Since its beginnings in 1986, the organization has found permanent, loving homes for over 2,000 companion animals. We have also assisted income-qualified residents in spaying/neutering over 900 animals.
