Schnauzer Paws Rescue , based in Ware, Massachusetts has volunteers throughout the New England area that finds homes for rescue and owner turn-in miniature (and occasionally standard) Schnauzers and Schnauzer mixes. We are not-for-profit which means that all donations go towards the care of our dogs. All dogs will be spay/neutered, brought up to date on shots, screened for heartworm and intestinal parasites and the elimination thereof, and have had their teeth cleaned if needed. They are groomed and bathed when we receive them. As we are a rescue group we do not typically have large groups of dogs available at any one time. Our dogs are carefully matched to adoption applicants. Although we place our dogs throughout New England, we do not ship our rescues. After the difficult experiences many of our dogs have experienced, we prefer not to have them suffer the trauma of a long journey. We receive dogs for their owners for various reasons, i.e., divorce, death, moving, lack of time, neglect. We also occasionally receive dogs from shelters that were dropped off there, or picked up as a stray. The dog’s ages vary, but the majority are middle age. We do it for the love of the breed and that we find it very rewarding.
